Louis, what a great blog and so inspiring. I loved being at camp with you and you put it into words so beautifully. The time there IS amazing. Just being in the presence of so many wonderful volunteers like you and the kids who have been through so much, yet have great attitudes and the love that is in abundanceis hard to express. I also took quite a bit of time off in August and I was feeling a little guilty. But the experience of camp and being with great friends who I was also fortunate to have invite me to visit them in beachy places made it all worth while. Thanks for reinforcing that balance in my life is important. I am so black and white! My weekend will end on my friends boat and I am looking forward to a great weekend. And the more I listen to you the clearer I am getting. Thank you.

Thank you for your note, Cigdem. Am too a Landmark grad. I think it's a brilliant tool/technology/language -- just not the ONLY one. Am putting together a program that's a bit more welcoming, at least from my vantage point. That's all we've got, right? As Rumi says, "From god to soil - let nothing get in the way!"

Will check out the book,
Louis

Hello Louis
I have read a couple of your articules now , and find it all very useful in trying to join the dots and I wondered if we could do a coaching session- i am not sure if this is something you still do..

I am 28 years old and so far my life journey has been an interesting one, but if slow, due to my lack of direciton ( i suppose) and i just wanted some ideas on how to get moving, get organised, and maintain my level of energy and self confidence.

I work full time, in a job that brings medium satisfaction but isn't my life's dream. I am part of the Transition Town network and practice yoga and cycle very regularly. I sometimes suffer from low self confidences, obessions and control issues and really would like to know how to shake them off so that i can work as productively and creatively and as intelligently as i can!

any ideas?

cheers Nirobey.

Dear Louis,
Your life journey is quite inspiring, and the choices you have made along the way are examples that everyone can learn from. Our lives become so much more colorful and purposeful when we come to the realization that we are always at choice in every situations that we face, especially when we choose to look at them from a perspective that makes us more resourceful and resilient.
I can relate to some of your experiences, such as growing up as a shy boy that was overweight, the challenges one can face coming out as a gay man, and loosing a sister (in my case who was murdered). All of these experiences have caused me to focus on my expansion, leading me to have the emotional awareness that the only thing we can control is the story that we design for ourselves along the way. I chose to design a story with a vision focused on the art of being happy. Happiness to me is to accept myself for who I am, to be appreciative and grateful of everything that I have, to be positive, to love unconditionally and to live a life on purpose.
I am very interested to learn more about what it is to be a social emotional leader in the world.
Thank you for all that you do and the ripple effect you are having every day in the world.
Much love and gratitude,
Ray

Dear Louis
Your thinking .. where it has been building over time.. with layers and layers of feeling, learning, scholarly research.. and your life experiences ... remind me of the travels of the heart and of the mind by the Sufi Mystic Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi .. who lived in the 13th Century in Konya, Turkey ... my friend Mucahide and I are both of Landmark Ed. graduates.. and have found ourselves deeply touched by this thinker .. and deep human being.. after reading your blog entries .. we are convinced that we are on the same journey .... aren't we all !!??? there is a book we recommend to you by Elif Shafak called Love ... a great great novel and introduction to some of the thoughts of Mevlana and his light Sems of Tabriz ...
there is so much more to talk about ... but this a beginning ....
